Omar Aziz, PhD

Omar is the Director of Biology at Charles River's Early Discovery unit in Cambridge, which partners with companies to develop new compounds. Previously, he was group leader at Charles River, where he led neurodegenerative focused research projects and oversaw the stem cell and tissue culture research teams. He has a PhD from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and completed his post-doctoral studies at the NIEHS, Research Triangle Park in North Carolina. Prior to joining BioFocus (now part of Charles River) in 2008, Omar was a research associate at Pfizer in the UK, studying urinary incontinence drug targets and therapies within the department of urology. He was also a Senior Scientist at Lectus Therapeutics in Babraham, UK, where he focused on urinary incontinence and pain therapeutics.
