Michael Accardi, PhD, DSP
Michael Accardi, MSc, PhD, DSP is an Associate Director in Safety Pharmacology at the Charles River's Laval site in Canada where he is actively involved in in vivo safety assessments as well as in vitro safety testing including the hERG channel assay and hippocampal seizure liability testing. He earned his Master’s degree at Ontario Tech University (in Applied Science) and Doctoral degree at McGill University (in Pharmacology and Therapeutics) where he specialized in the in vitro electrophysiological assessments of ion channel physiology, through the use of patch-clamping techniques, in both vertebrate and invertebrate nervous systems. He has since become a Diplomate in Safety Pharmacology (DSP) awarded by the Safety Pharmacology Society. He continues to published on a variety of neuroscience and safety pharmacology topics in leading peer-review publications such as Nature Communications, the Journal of Neuroscience and the Journal of Pharmacological and Toxicological Methods.
