Last April, Eureka guest blogger Rodney Dietert wrote about how prenatal and postnatal events—from exposure to toxic chemicals and drug and antibiotic administration to Cesarean delivery formula feeding and stress—can lead to immune dysfunction and increased health risks to the child. The significance of the microbiome and early immune education in securing a healthier and more balanced life is explored in depth in the 60-minute documentary “Microbirth,” that features Dietert, a professor of immunotoxicology at Cornell University, and other international researchers. The film debuted September 20-21 at 300 different locations across the globe. A link to the film’s website, which includes a trailer of the film, can be found here. Dietert has also provided a suggested reading list about research links to the microbirth topic, which includes his Eureka blog post.
