Deidre, the former Personal Care Products Council (PCPC) Microbiology Committee Chair, is responsible for managing the Personal Care Microbiology Team and skin cleansing products globally at Unilever. In addition to managing the product development processes, she is responsible for determining preservation systems for regional and global personal care formulations, including OTC drug products such as skin care formulations containing sunscreens and deodorant formulations containing antimicrobial ingredients. She advises manufacturing facilities regarding appropriate cleaning and disinfection protocols to maintain processing equipment in a sanitary condition and conducts hygiene audits of manufacturing facilities for Unilever and third party co-packer’s. She is also responsible for method development as it applies to home and personal care products. Ms. Mitchell provides technical advice and guidance to Unilever R&D Microbiologists worldwide. Before joining Unilever, Ms.Mitchell worked in both R&D and Quality Control as a Microbiologist at Wesley-Jessen Corporation in Des Plaines, IL.Deidre is a native of the Chicago area and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Iowa State University as well as taking advance course work at Northeastern Illinois University in Molecular Biology. She is a member of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and serves as an active member on the PCPC Microbiology Committee on behalf of Unilever.
